New Reagan Watch, Now With Added Lincoln
08-Oct-07
“Gov. Crist has clearly shown that he governs in a parallel manner to Ronald Reagan, to Abraham Lincoln”
Florida Republican Party Chairman Jim Greer
The parallels are haunting!
Remembering history the way they wished it had been
“Gov. Crist has clearly shown that he governs in a parallel manner to Ronald Reagan, to Abraham Lincoln”
Florida Republican Party Chairman Jim Greer
The parallels are haunting!
A Florida Democratic effort to mobilize Ronald Reagan against budget cuts for a state Alzheimer’s facility has died in the state house.
This new feint in the Legacy Wars was defeated by Republican legislators.
Thanks to the rascals at the Tailhook Association [Hey, remember them?] we get a link to a video of the “ladies” of the USS Ronald Reagan cutting up and talking sassy, miming the lyrics of Shania Twain’s immortal “That Don’t Impress Me Much.”
The Navy had it taken down earlier.
Watch for high-fiving of a grinning Reagan statue aboard ship.
A cry for help.
Thanks to the smarty pants at slacktivist I’ve become aware of a Presidential Yacht reference in the beloved “left Behind” series:
“Carolyn Miller is upset by her husband’s death, but she takes a moment first to remind Buck of when they first met, “on the presidential yacht two summers ago.” Buck had forgotten this, but I suppose all these women from presidential yachts and presidential hotel rooms can start to blur together after a while.”
It just sings, don’t it? I love it when characters take the time to fill each other in on their common past. As the novel teaches us, “when people disappear, some rules go out the window.”
I haven’t read the series, and don’t plan to, but it’s my understanding that it’s set in the near future, or at least a universe not drastically different from our own ‘cept for all the rapturing and blood orgies.
In a further rectification of god smacked culture, this Carolyn Miller character morphes from two references in the novel to a screen credited role in one film of the series.
Can anyone fill me in on yacht girl’s evolution?
Clinton Library Takes A Stand
Lame-ass joke cards declined, new era of taste in offing?
The Clinton Presidential Library shop has declined to stock the 2008 edition of Politicards, playing cards with big headed caricatures. And jokes!
Oh how we’ll laugh at yet another portrayal of Hillary Clinton as a ball buster.
Peter Green claims to be a formerly liberal libertarian conservative who engages in “gently roasting each character with a non-partisan blend of comedy and insight.”
It’s like the Capitol Steps in stiff paper form!
The artist tries to assure us he has no point of view. “I can’t take a position politically…My position is to draw attention to the issue and the candidates . . . and definitely not take it too seriously.”
Hats off to the Clinton Library for joining with the other Presidential Libraries by dumping this drek, for whatever motives.
Taste is not assured however. We will always be haunted by their ghastly taste in music.
